Driver Bio

For the first time since the team's inaugural season in 2005, Vision Racing fielded a Firestone Indy Lights full-time entry for 2009 with series sophomore and race winner James Davison as driver.

Davison piloted the team's No. 21 machine for his second season in the series and was the team's fifth Firestone Indy Lights pilot.

The native Australian came off a rookie season (2008) that produced one win (Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course), one pole (Nashville Superspeedway), a second place finish (Kentucky Speedway), three (3) Top-Five drives, five (5) Top-10 finishes and 34 laps led in 15 starts with Sam Schmidt Motorsports.

H
e followed up that performance in 2009 by giving Vision Racing the team's first pole position and more importantly a first win for the organization at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The successful season saw Davison earn 14 top-10s in 15 races, three pole positins and four podiums, to finish runner-up in the FIL Championship.

Davison is a third-generation driver whose father, Jon Davison, was victorious in Formula 5000 while grandfather, Lex Davison, was four-time winner of the Australian Grand Prix. He also has cousins that race V8 Supercars.

Davison also has previous driving experience and race victories in Star Mazda, Formula BMW USA, and Australian Formula Ford .
